Postdoctoral Fellows, PhD students, and Research Coordinator Positions – Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City

September 09, 2026
The Social Interaction & Neural Computation Laboratory (PI: Shawn Rhoads) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City is recruiting! Our work is supported by an NIH grant to study the neural and computational basis of social connection, and we are looking for motivated postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, and a research coordinator to join our growing team.
Candidates will work on projects spanning topics and methods including:
  • Computational models of social interaction (e.g., multi-agent reinforcement learning, Bayesian inference)
  • Functional neuroimaging
  • Intracranial electrophysiology
  • Computational psychiatry
Postdoctoral fellow: We are recruiting candidates with a strong interest in using cognitive computational models in combination with intracranial electrophysiology data (e.g., local field potentials). Applicants with backgrounds in computational modeling, reinforcement learning, decision neuroscience, or related areas are encouraged to apply.
PhD students: Prospective students should apply directly to the Neuroscience PhD Program at Mount Sinai. The application deadline is December 1, 2026.
Research coordinator: We are also recruiting a postbac research coordinator with an anticipated spring 2027 start date. The coordinator will contribute to day-to-day research operations, including experimental paradigm development, participant recruitment and data collection, and behavioral and neuroimaging data preprocessing/analysis. This position is well suited for someone seeking additional research training before pursuing a PhD in computational social neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, or computational psychiatry.
