Fully Funded PhD Positions in Cognitive Neuroscience – Auburn University
October 01, 2026
The Imaging of Brain Health (IBH) Lab is recruiting prospective PhD students for Fall 2027. Led by Dr. Wei Zhang in Auburn University’s Department of Psychological Sciences, our lab studies how biological and environmental factors shape brain and mental health across the lifespan. We use neuroimaging and approaches from psychology, neuroscience, genetics, endocrinology, and data science to investigate brain development, adaptation, and resilience.
We welcome applicants interested in MRI research, large-scale datasets, and interdisciplinary questions about brain health. Relevant backgrounds include psychology, neuroscience, engineering, computer science, statistics, and related fields. Neuroimaging or programming experience is helpful, but we also encourage applicants who are eager to develop those skills. Students join Auburn’s Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences (CaBS) PhD program. Applicants are automatically considered for graduate assistantships; no separate assistantship application is required.
To apply: Submit your application to the CaBS PhD program by December 1, 2026. If you’re interested in working with the IBH Lab, you’re welcome to email Dr. Zhang at with your CV and a brief description of your research interests.
