The Executive Director of the Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women’s Health Research and Director of the Women’s Hormones and Aging Research Program in the Department of Psychiatry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, is seeking a highly motivated full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to our suite of translational and clinical research studies focused on understanding brain health in midlife women, as manifested through neurocognitive function (mood, cognition, sleep, fatigue, stress, vasomotor instability) and in relation to dementia risk and cardiometabolism. This course of study includes investigating the biological mechanisms, clinical course, and treatment in women during midlife and in those undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Research methods include hormonal interventions, functional brain imaging, physiologic and subjective sleep monitoring, stress induction paradigms. The position will be in the Department of Psychiatry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (PI: Dr. Hadine Joffe; https://connorscenter.bwh.harvard.edu; www.brighamwharp.org). Opportunities include involvement with ongoing funded studies and analysis and manuscript preparation of recently completed data. The Fellow will also participate in the research and network activities and programs in both the Department of Psychiatry and the Connors Center of Women’s Health Research.
Qualifications/Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) and/or M.D. (post residency) with a strong research background and interest in at least one of the following domains: clinical neuroscience, women’s brain health, and sex-differences in diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, and cardiovascular disease. Qualified applicants must have a solid foundation in conducting clinical research studies, biostatistical analysis (experience with R, SAS, STATA, or other statistical computing software), scientific writing (including a publication record leading research papers). Experience working with clinical populations (reproductive, psychiatric, and/or women’s health) is preferred. Expertise and coding ability in relevant analysis software (SPM, CONN, MATLAB) will be considered an advantage.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an aptitude for writing manuscripts and grant applications are essential. The successful applicant will have the ability to work both within a team and independently, managing several projects simultaneously and training/mentoring research assistants. We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven, creative, and collaborative scientist.
This will be a two-year position with a preferred start date in August or September of 2025.
