1st Online International Conference on Social Neuroscience in Ecologically Valid Conditions

June 04, 2021

We would like to invite you to take part in the 1st online International Conference on Social Neuroscience in Ecologically Valid Conditions, taking place on 21-23 June 2021 in online format and organised by the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (HSE, Russia) and Aalto University (Finland).

Rapid methodological advances allow us to conduct social neuroscience studies in much more ecologically valid conditions. These novel approaches span from neuroimaging studies with naturalistic stimuli such as movies to the use of wearable sensors in real life social interactions. Topics in this new area of research span from investigation of the neural basis of social cognition, unravelling the effects of cultural influences, to investigation of the biological basis of intergroup biases.

The Conference programme will cover the following key topics:

  • Social neuroimaging: Novel ecologically valid approaches
  • Modulation of attitudes and behavior by ecologically valid social contexts
  • Addressing cross- and intra-cultural differences in social science, neuroscience and psychology

Through a series of keynotes by invited speakers and poster sessions, the online Conference will discuss novel methods in social neuroimaging, the strengths and weaknesses of using naturalistic stimuli, social influence and persuasive communication, cross- and intra-cultural differences in social neuroscience research.

Among our speakers are Hang-Yee Chan (University of Pennsylvania, USA and University of Amsterdam, Netherlands), Emily Falk (University of Pennsylvania, USA), Enrico Glerean (Aalto University, Finland and HSE University, Russia), Shinobu Kitayama (University of Michigan, USA). For a full list of speakers see our website.

The online Conference will also promote an opportunity to present novel results in the format of poster spotlight presentation (5 min talk + questions) and interact with leading scientists in the field.

Adopting a highly multidisciplinary approach, the Conference aims to draw the attendance of cognitive neuroscientists, psychologists and social scientists, sharing the common goal to promote international scientific cooperation and to exchange new ideas and concepts.

Abstract submission deadline for Poster Session EXTENDED: 13 June, 2021 (23:59 GTC+3)
Registration deadline: 17 June, 2021 (23:59 GTC+3)
