University of California Davis, Center for Mind and Brain: Postdoctoral Position(s)

March 29, 2021

We are looking for two postdocs to come and join our Learning and Decision Making (LDM) Lab for two years (possibly more) at the Center for Mind and Brain<> (CMB) at the University of California, Davis. The CMB is a leading, interdisciplinary research center dedicated to understanding the human mind and its links to the brain, located in sunny Davis, California.
The postdoc will join the LDM Lab (PI: Dr. Erie Boorman) and lead NIH-funded research that combines computational modeling of the processes underlying learning, inference, and decision making in social and reward-based environments with fMRI and behavioral measures in humans. There is also the possibility of utilizing other methods, including intracranial electrophysiology and EEG, also in humans. The position will focus on investigating the computational and neural mechanisms that underpin learning, inference, and decision making. You can find out more about our research on the Research page. See job description below:
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of publication and relevant research experience in some of the tools and topics listed above. I am looking for someone who is productive, numerate, and interested in the neural basis of learning, cognitive maps, and flexible decision making (or related psychological constructs). The candidate should be proficient in Matlab, Python, and/or R and have experience with fMRI analyses. Experience with intracranial recording and/or M/EEG data analysis approaches is not necessary but would be a plus. Experience with FSL or SPM (or similar) is desirable.
Appointment is contingent upon completion of a PhD (although this can be forthcoming). Salary is commensurate with experience. This postdoc appointment will run for a period of two years to begin with, with the possibility of extending it to three years, depending on funding and the fit with the lab. The candidate would ideally start as soon as possible (with some flexibility). Applications are accepted beginning February 22, 2021, and will continue until the position is filled. Interested candidates should send a C.V., email outlining research interests, and 2-3 references to me at:<>.
