Postdoc Researcher, Neuroscience of Affective Touch and Pain

Applications are invited for a full-time postdoc position (pending funding) in the Department of Anesthesiology, UC San Diego. The postdoc will work with Dr. Laura Case (caselaboratory.org). The postdoc will support NCCIH-funded studies on mechanisms of affective (pleasant) touch perception, and a VA MERIT clinical trial of weighted blankets for chronic pain and sleep. The postdoc will also support smaller studies related to touch, pain, and body perception. Duties will include data collection, data management and analysis, writing, presentations, and mentoring. Opportunities for new study initiation and training in grant writing are also available. A two-year commitment preferred, with the possibility of extension.

Applicants should have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline, human research experience in sensory perception, pain, and/or emotion, and strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach. Preferred qualifications include strong skills in physiological data collection and MRI data analysis.
