Faculty Diversity (PFFFD) Postdoctoral Program at the University of Missouri

September 17, 2021

I am pleased to share with you a call for applications for the University of Missouri’s Preparing Future Faculty– Faculty Diversity (PFFFD) Postdoctoral Program. The PFFFD program is designed to develop scholars for tenure-track faculty positions at the University of Missouri and elsewhere.  Postdoctoral positions are typically for two years and provide research, teaching, and professional development opportunities.

This program is a campus-wide effort; the Department of Psychological Sciences is well-positioned to recruit and hire for one of these postdoctoral positions. We are especially interested in attracting scholars in social/personality psychology. Area of scholarship within social/personality is open and may include (but is not limited to) health disparities, diversity science, intergroup relations, addictions, or social neuroscience. Faculty in the social/personality area currently include Bruce Bartholow (social cognitive neuroscience; addiction; person perception), Jamie Arndt (existential psychology; health decision making), Ken Sheldon (motivation; happiness; self-determination theory), Laura King (personality; well-being; meaning in life), and B. Ann Bettencourt (intergroup relations; mindfulness theory; meta-analysis).  The department has 39 faculty and typically 7 or 8 postdoctoral scholars. We have a strong culture of mentoring and supporting our postdoctoral scholars and assistant professors.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Psychology or be on-track to receive their Ph.D. before August 2022.  Applicants should demonstrate how they can contribute to faculty diversity, such as through membership in a group that is historically underrepresented or through other training and experience.

Potential candidates should visit the PFFD webpage https://gradschool.missouri.edu/postdoctoral-education/preparing-future-faculty-postdoctoral-program-for-faculty-diversity/ to learn more about the program and to apply online by September 27, 2021.
